A warm front moved through the region last night and a cold front will be moving through Wednesday night into Thursday... In the meantime we could see scattered storms Today, Tonight, and Tomorrow... Look for daytime highs in the lower 90s... A heat advisory is in effect for the STL area on Wednesday as temperatures will climb to the upper 90s with heat index to 106... The cool front will move through late Wednesday and bring in some pleasant weather for the remainder of the forecast...

Thursday and Friday will be sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 80s... Saturday look for sunshine and highs in the upper 80s... Sunday will start sunny with highs in the upper 80s... Sunday night a chance of storms will move into the region as another frontal system that will bring additional storms on Monday... Monday highs in the lower 80s...

*SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER TODAY/TONIGHT*

A morning complex of storms over NW mo heading towards the STL area will likely die out prior to arrival, but as a warm front moves closer followed closely by a cold front the coverage of storms will increase towards night time into Saturday. I do expect sun for much of Friday as temperatures soar to the upper 80s... Tonight storms wil be likely with lows near 70.

Saturday will likely start wet before clearing north to south on Saturday afternoon--I do anticipate clearing skies over most of the region... Highs will be in the upper 80s...

Sunday will be sunny and pleasant for August with highs in the lower 80s... Monday-Thursday are dry with temperatures starting on Monday with highs in the lower 80s with a slow trend to the upper 80s to near 90 on Thursday... But I don't see any extreme heat for the region next week.

SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE STORMS ON FRIDAY-FRIDAY NIGHT...

A gorgeous start to our Thursday with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s in most locations, clear skies, with some patch fog, will reveal a nice August day, compared to the extreme heat over the past few weeks... Highs today will be in the lower 80s... Relatively low humidity levels and dew points will make the day pleasurable.

Tonight skies will be partly cloudy with lows in the lower to mid 60s... On Friday our skies will become increasingly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s... A warm front followed by a trailing cold front will move through the region beginning by midday on Friday and late Friday night-Saturday morning... As these fronts move through look for increasing chances of showers/storms, some of which will be strong to severe... A slight risk of severe weather exists for the entire area on Friday-Friday night... Lows on Friday will be in the lower 70s...

Saturday will start off wet, but once the cold front clears the entire area, we should see a relatively nice afternoon with highs in the mid 80s... Sunday will be a super Sunday with highs in the lower 80s with sunny skies... We continue this dry trend with great August temperatures, especially since we are in the Dog Days of Summer period, but it will not feel like it with temperatures in the mid 80s through the end of the forecast period.

A cold front associated with several waves of showers/storms will continue to impact the region today/tonight...The storms currently over Central and Southeast Missouri will likely produce heavy rainfall, and a few storms could become severe. Current thinking is that the storms will develop in the STL area later today as the front begins a southerly track...As of now a stationary front is drooped over the area which is the focal point of storms for the region this morning...Highs today in the upper 80s...Where more sun is prevelant the warmer...

The cold front will drop through the region tonight and bring cooler and drier air to the region... Storms tonight and linger into Tuesday... Tuesday should have some ample sunshine with highs in the upper 80s... A wind shift to the north will be the focal point for cooler and drier air... Lows with clear skies on Tuesday night will dip to the mid 60s...

Wednesday will cool and sunny with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s with clear skies... Wednesday night look for a chance of storms with lows in the 60s... Thursday and Friday will bring scattered chances of storms as impulses of energy move through the region... Highs on Thursday will be in the lower 80s... Mid 80s on Friday....

Saturday models seem to disagree on sky and precipitation chances... For now have opted to keep the forecast dry as models are not consistent in holding precipitation chances from Friday into Saturday... Highs on Saturday will be in the mid 80s...

Sunday is dry with sunshine and highs in the lower 80s.

The heat has returned after some morning storms and showers this morning...As the atmosphere heats up this afternoon and recovers from the morning storms we could see some redevelopment later this afternoon and tonight...Some storms could be strong and produce locally heavy rainfall... Sunday will be nearly a duplicate of today with highs in the mid 90s and Heat index to 107...Scattered storms will be possible through the day Sunday...

We await the arrival of a strong cold front Monday and Monday night with that being said look for scattered storms on Monday afternoon and more likely on Monday night with severe storms possible on Monday night into Tuesday morning... The heat returns for our weekend with temperatures back to the mid 90s and Heat index values ranging from 103-106...A stray storm over the weekend is possible, otherwise look for sunny skies...

Monday our weather begins to change as a series of cold fronts will move through Monday-Tuesday and will ultimately cool us down significantly...Highs on Monday-Tuesday in the upper 80s... With the chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday-Tuesday...

By the time we arrive to Wednesday-Thursday temperatures will be in the lower to mid 80s...With sunshine...Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.....

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS CONTINUE TODAY....

The hottest morning of the year so far this morning as temperatures are already in the upper 70s to lower 80s... The combination of dewpoint and humidity levels have created a very soupy morning for the region... Despite this a cool front moved through the region and is currently stalled over SE MO and SO IL...The cool front did not do much in cooling the air, but it did change our winds to the north and will keep the 100 degree temperatures at bay today... I can't rule out a stray storm today given the proximity of the front...

Thursday will be a bit cooler and a chance of storms into the afternoon with highs in the lower 90s... Thursday night the chance of storms increase a bit more with lows in the 70s... Friday will keep the chance of storms in the forecast with highs in the lower 90s....

Over the weekend, given the stalled out front I can't rule out a stray storm so went ahead and put that in my forecast through the weekend... Most areas will be on the dry side with a stray storm possible... Highs in the lower to mid 90s over the weekend...

A strong front moves through on Monday with highs in the upper 80s... Still keep the chance of storms in the forecast... Tuesday is dry and the temperatures climbing back to the mid 90s...

The frontal boundary to our south will move northward today and that will allow the big bubble of high pressure to move northward...This means increased temperatures for our Sunday...

As a meteorologist I can honestly say I am over the heat and talking about the heat... How do you make your forecast interesting when all you keep talking about is the heat... So, today we talk about the heat and humidity with highs under mostly sunny skies in the century range...High today near 102... Heat index to 113... Tonight lows only to 80... Tomorrow we have a weak front slowly drooping southward and it will bring a chance of storms to the region on Friday afternoon/night...Highs on Friday in the mid to upper 90s... Heat index to 106...This scenario is similar to our last storm chances last weekend...

Saturday will continue with a chance of storms and sunny skies with highs in the lower 90s... On Sunday look for sunny skies and the quick retreat back to the heat wi th highs in the mid 90s... Monday and Tuesday we are HOT... Highs in the upper 90s..i.

Look for another hot day today...Day 15...We have been locked into a excessive heat pattern for 15 days and the trend is not set to end at least for the next two days...

Today look for sunny, hot, and humid conditions with highs nearing the century mark...with heat index to 106+ Today is also an Orange air quality day with poor air quality for those with sensitive breathing and other health ailments...

Tonight will be humid with lows in the upper 70s...with clear skies... Tomorrow is just as hot with highs into the 100s! Heat index again in the 107-110 range.... Clear skies are expected Thursday and Thursday night....

A very active front over Iowa/Nebraska/Northern Illinois...will slowly drop southward on Friday bringing the chance of storms into the forecast on Friday--but until they arrive we should see highs in the mid 90s....Once the storms arrive and the cold front gets closer our temperatures should drop to the lower 90s for highs on Saturday--still a chance of storms on Saturday...and may need to add them into Sunday if the models stall the front into Sunday... Don't get to happy with the lower 90s on Sat/Sun, because by Monday we return to the upper 90s with humid conditions returning.... Highs on Sunday will remain in the lower 90s as well...Look for ample sunshine even with the threat of storms through this period...

Tuesday is hotter than Monday with the approach again to the century mark...

A low pressure with a warm front will move through the region today/tonight increasing the heat and humidity as the Gulf of Mexico opens up and sends that warm, moist air into our region... Look for highs today in the mid to upper 90s... Heat Index will be in the 106 range... The prolonged heat and humidity will continue to have significant impact on society... People should take needed precautions... As the warm front moves through we could see a possible spot storm as this front moves through the region...

Expect more heat on Wednesday with highs nearing 100... Heat index will climb to the 110 mark...Sunshine will be in full force with plenty of humidity... Thursday will be at or above 100, with a heat index again at the 110 mark...

A few spot storms may be possible today as the cold front well to our north gets a little closer...However it will not be a widespread event for us... The main action will be well to our north most of the day... Lows tonight near 80.

Saturday the front get a bit cloesr---Still hot and humid, with highs in the upper 90s, with more clouds in the mix I do think that our temperatures will be cooler than today. Heat index still in the 106-115 range... A few storms possible on Saturday...

On Sunday the cold front will be close enough to bring additional showers/storms to the region... Still hot and humid, with highs in the upper 90s... Monday will keep the chance of storms in the forecast... with highs more tolerable in the lower 90s...

The story continues to be the heat, humidity, and haze for the region... We are going to enter the next two day the most intense part of the heat... The hottest time of the day will be between 2-5pm. Some morning storms have resulted in a few severe thunderstorms over the region...Our atmosphere has become unstable for the weekend, as I have said much of the week, this set up is nearly identical to last weekend where we had rounds/waves of storms through the weekend... Not everyone will get rain this morning/this afternoon... However, those that do get the storms will see the potential for strong to severe storms, with heavy rainfall...

The set up is a warm front draped right over the region... A cold front to our west with a few impulses of energy between today and tomorrow... So scattered storms today, with clouds and some sun... Tonight though a larger complex is anticipated to move through the region and produce heavy rain and thunderstorms for the region... Will need to monitor tonight closely! Today's highs in the the lower to mid 80s...

The heavy rain threat could result in some flash flooding; models indicate upwards of 1.5"-2" of rain is possible....... In addition any severe storms primary threat will be large hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and the heavy rain threat...

Sunday will be a repeat of today, with periods of storms... Temperatures will increase on Sunday to the lower 90s...Some strong to severe storms will be possible on Sunday...

Monday will start off with the storm potential, but sunshine should become dominant by afternoon and then another round of storms by Monday night... Highs on Monday lower 90s... Some of the storms on Monday night could be strong to severe...

In the meantime a line of thunderstorms is moving through the region this morning... However, do believe that we will see another wave late today and tonight... Its all compliments of a big low over KS/NE and a cold front to our west that will slowly move east today... A line of thunderstorms is expected to develop along and ahead of this front. Some of these storms could be severe with large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, lots of lightning and even a few tornadoes... Today's highs will be in the upper 80s. Tonight look for lows to fall to the upper 60s to lower 70s..

Wednesday may start out wet over portions of the region, have kept the chance of rain in the morning, but believe that we will see a great Wednesday afternoon. Highs behind this front will take temperatures on Wednesday to the upper 70s. Look for gusty west winds up to 26 mph... Wednesday nights lows will be in the lower 60s... with partly cloudy skies...

Thursday and Friday we are dry with highs in the upper 70s and sunny skies... By Friday night the setup from last weekend returns for an encore presentation...Storms are possible late Friday night into early Saturday... Tonight thunderstorms are likely across the region.Some of those will be strong to severe...Large hail and damaging winds continue to be the threat... We are hot again today, a cold front hanging out to our north will be the focus for thunderstorms, and a few of them may move into STL area given the heat and humidity and with the rain cooled air to the north it may move into the area...UV index is extreme today with an 11+. Wear sunscreen. Look for highs in the mid 90s today and in the urban corridor we could see a few degrees warmer... Tonight we still keep the chance of the thunderstorms in the region...Lows tonight will fall to the lower 70s...

Friday will bring a better chance of thunderstorms as the cold front moves slowly southward...Providing relief from the heat and humidity. Highs on Friday in the lower 90s...

Saturday-Sunday-Monday will bring additional chances of showers and thunderstorms across the region, it will not be a complete washout, but it could bring some strong to severe storms to the region...Highs Saturday-Monday will be in the 80s...Lower humidity levels expected.

More heat for Tuesday and Wednesday are on the way, but first let's talk about the 4.2M earthquake that hit the region this morning around 3:10 am... Located near Sullivan, MO. No damage has been reported with this earthquake as of yet... Did you feel it?

Hot and Humid will be the feature yet again today and in fact will linger through Wednesday and perhaps Thursday if the models get together. Look for a complex of storms this morning to continue through the afternoon as a cold front has stalled right over the St. Louis area will be the focal point for additional thunderstorms, which we will have to keep a close eye on for the potential of severe weather, primarily large hail, and damaging winds... A SLIGHT risk of severe weather exists for the area bordering the MS river...

A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the region today through Wendesday as temperatures each day will be in the mid to upper 90s through Wednesday... Today's highs will be somewhat lower due to clouds and storms, needless to say that we will still see high humidity across the region... Highs today will be in the lower 90s...

Monday will be Sunny and hot. Highs in the upper 90s... Continuing this trend through Wednesday with highs in the upper 90s... may see a few triple digits!

A warm front moving Northward today will be the focal point of some thunderstorms that could be on the strong to severe side with large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes as they move through the region... The main focus of this severe weather will be from the STL area west and east...

Look for some sun today especially over SE MO and SO IL highs today will be in the lower 80s...With a south wind. Tonight a chance of storms exist for areas north of STL and skies should be clearing south of STL... Lows near 70.

Sunday the front will be well north of the area resulting in Sunny skies and highs in the lower 90s... It will also be breezy with a southerly wind around 20 mph....Clear skies are expected on Sunday night with a low near 71.

Keep an eye to the sky this weekend right before sunrise for the planets. You can see in the NE sky near the thin crescent moon: Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury (in that order )

We are dry on Monday-Tuesday with highs in the lower 90s with a mostly sunny sky...

Wednesday does present at least a slight chance of a thunderstorm, otherwise a partly sunny sky will prevail highs in the upper 80s... Thursday and Friday look dry and sunny with the summer-like temperatures continuing highs in the mid to upper 80s...

This is a VERY dangerous situation.

**Major Severe Weather Outbreak Expected This Afternoon-Evening**

Severe Weather expected including Tornadoes... Damaging Winds... Large Hail... Flooding...

A major severe weather outbreak is being forecasted for today for the region that includes the development of strong, long-lived tornadoes. In addition, very heavy rainfall is expected with these thunderstorms which could result in a flooding event in addition to severe weather.

A HIGH risk has been placed over SE MO AND SO IL where the conditions are continuing to increase for the potential of a MASSIVE severe weather outbreak... The concern for TORNADOES is very HIGH... Elsewhere, a moderate risk is in place and should not be taken lightly... This is a dangerous situation.

Round one is moving through the region this morning where a tornado WATCH is in effect for portions of SE MO and SO IL until 1pm... As these line of storms move out of the area... We should see some sunshine with heating of the day that will prime the atmosphere for the major outbreak of severe weather later this afternoon...Mainly after 1pm... Prime time for us though I would venture to say will be around 3pm-7pm...

A dry slot between the warm front that moved to the north and the cold front to the west with an attached low pressure system will begin to move eastward this afternoon... The setup is similar to what occurred yesterday in Oklahoma... I do expect some strong tornadoes...hail larger than golfballs and damaging winds of excess of 70 mph...

This is a dangerous situation and people should make severe weather safety plans and review them closely for action implentation later today...

There could reasonably be several rounds of severe weather... This morning and then later this evening... I can NOT stress enough how serious of a situation this is for the region... All weather elements are in place to support a major severe weather outbreak for the region, especially if our atmosphere receives enough daytime heating...

The atmosphere 24 hours ago over OK/KS/SWMO was setting up for a PRIME severe weather event, and that is now over our region...So, the concern is heightened for our area...

Training of storms over the same area will create flash flooding for the region... Something to add insult to injury.

The atmosphere will continue to recharge itself today and tonight so any thunderstorms that develop are likely to become to severe... Primary threats remain large hail, damaging winds... and even a few tornadoes... As a slight risk exists today we should keep a close eye on these storms...

Highs today look for highs in the lower 80s... Tonights lows in the upper 60s...

On Wednesday our attention turns to that low pressure system to our west today that has a very strong cold front attached to it. The SPC has already placed us in a MODERATE risk of severe weather where we could see a Major outbreak of severe weather, including Tornadoes, Large Hail, Damaging Winds, and Very heavy rainfall... The cold front and Low will move through the region and will be capable of producing supercellular storms... Stay tuned.

After a deadly day on Sunday, and on the day I return from vacation, we had at least 89 people killed from a supercell rainwrapped tornado that has destroyed nearly 75% of the city of Joplin Missouri. The rescue and recovery process continues through that area...

The unfortunate situation is that the atmosphere is primed for a repeat of yesterday over the same area... And this includes the STL area and SE MO and SO IL. Currently the Storm Prediction Center has the entire area in Slight Risk of Severe weather today through Wednesday... Would not be surprised to see a moderate risk included later.. Still tracking some very impressive storms out in KS/SW MO where they will then track into our area..

We have a high dewpoint with daytime heating today and a cold front that has stalled over the region will be the driving mechanism for severe weather today-Wednesday night... and linger into Thursday...

Severe weather is possible as I have said, with the threat of Tornadoes, Large Hail, Damaging winds, and Heavy Rainfall, which is likely to result in flooding across the region...

Temperatures today in the lower 80s... Lows tonight in the mid 60s... Tuesday's highs will be in the lower 80s with lows in the lower 60s... Wednesday will be breezy with highs in the upper 70s... Thursday we begin to end the wet period with showers/tstorms ending Thursday afternoon. Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 60s to near 70s...

A Storm system will be moving through the plains today will become the weather future for us beginning late tonight through the weekend... Today will look for some scattered thunderstorms due to the high humidty and dewpoints, in addition to high temperatures if we get some decent sunshine we could see some thunderstorms pop up like we had yesterday... Some of these storms may become strong to even severe... Look for highs near 90... and lows in the upper 60s...

Storms will develop more widespread tonight and then again on Thursday as that huge low pressure system in the plains with a cold front moves eastward... Due to the extreme warmth and high dewpoints with a southerly flow we are in a slight risk of severe weather for Thursday afternoon and Thursday night... Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 80s... Should see some sun early in the day...

Friday look for more unsettled weather with sun and storms... highs in the upper 70s... We continue with an unsettled pattern through the weekend with the chance of rain showers through Sunday...Highs will be much cooler only in the mid to upper 60s...

We are locked into some clouds this morning and a few showers and thunderstorms, but we should break up these clouds and the sun will bring on the heat and that will be the big story...

Southerly flow will bring periods of clouds and sun today... Tonight look for Partly Cloudy skies and lows in the lower 70s...

Wednesday we are back in the 90 range with showers/thunderstorms developing by Wednesday afternoon. This wet and unsettled pattern will continue until early next week...

Periods of showers/thunderstorms will continue Wednesday night into Thursday... There is a slight risk of severe weather on Thursday and Thursday night where severe storms could produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes... Flooding Continues across the region...

Sunshine has arrived for our Thursday...Looking for a mostly dry day with sunshine and breezy conditions today, and we may see a wind advisory issued if this wind increases... Models and Satellite does show a weak disturbance move SE out of Iowa today and could bring a shower or thunderstorm to the STL area and areas to the east this afternoon, just remember they will be scattered and most areas will stay on the dry side... Highs today in the upper 60s... Tonight with partly cloudy sky we will drop to the mid 40s...

Friday is all about the sun! Highs in the lower 70s... and partly cloudy Friday night with lows in the mid 50s...

Saturday will start off dry, and breezy, but by afternoon we do have a chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high in the upper 70s... Saturday night into Sunday we will see showers and thunderstorms across the region, some of these could be strong to severe, and bring another round of heavy rainfall, which we don't need. Highs on Sunday in the lower 60s...

More rain today as our last low pressure system moves through the region for at least a few days... Look for a dry start for most today, minus a storm moving through Perry County MO around 730am... Rain moved through the region last night and more energy to the west begins to wrap around the low and a cold front will move through tonight which will result in drier air.... With this being said, look for rain today, some heavy rain, and even a few thunderstorms, don't expect much in regards to severe weather. It will be breezy today so expect lots of pollen to be flying which will be a bad day for allergy sufferers...

Tonight that dry air does begin to move into the region and that will allow the rain to end, and the skies will slowly begin to clear...

We are dry on Thursday, it will be breezy, but we should see that much needed sunshine... There could be some showers to the south of STL, but that is not looking to impressive and the POP is low... Highs tomorrow near 70.... We continue our dry trend on Friday with highs in the lower 70s... Saturday will start dry and it will be breezy, but by late afternoon-Sunday we will see our next chance of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe, and heavy rain will be likely...

SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE TONIGHT

Low clouds and a few scattered showers linger this morning as a cold front pushes eastward today--a low pressure system will move to the north of STL, which should keep us mainly dry today, even a few views of the sun later today... With the low cloud base we could see a few scattered showers and thunderstorms.... It will be breezy today with wind gust to 25 mph. The spin around the low will usher in some drier air at least for today!

Tonight a low pressure system will move in from the SW and create additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms...Heavy rainfall is expected and a the threat of severe weather is present tonight into Wednesday...

Last several days of heavy rainfall have resulted in significant flooding over the region... Upwards to a foot or more of rain over SE MO and SO IL, with upwards to 6" in the STL area... Given this look for flooding on roadways, creeks, small rivers, and even the bigger rivers are out of the banks and will remain that way due to heavy rainfall and additional heavy rainfall expected Tonight-Wednesday night...

Wednesday will be a wet and stormy day, severe weather is possible on Wednesday as the low pressure system moves through the region...Heavy rainfall will create additional insult to injury with flooding and saturated grounds, any gusty winds could result in some uprooting of trees. Remember turn around, don't drown! Never cross flooded roadways.. Wednesday night we should start to see some gradual clearing and a brief end to the rainfall and severe weather...Look for wind gust to 23 mph on Wednesday and Wednesday night....

Thursday will be sunny, DRY, and breezy, with highs in the upper 60s... We continue on the dry trend for Friday with highs in the lower 70s... We do start our Saturday dry, but we do see the chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon into Sunday... I don't think the weekend will be a wash out, but will monitor it....

We are dry on Monday with partly sunny skies... Highs in the upper 60s...

A brief break in the rainfall this morning, will be a short-lived event as another wave moves into the region from the OK/KS...Expect this to arrive by mid morning to early afternoon... A few peeks of the sun this morning will be a short visit, as clouds overpower the sunshine... For today look for showers and thunderstorms...Very heavy rainfall is expected with FLOODING a significant concern for the region... NEVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS...

Latest models from the SPC shows a MODERATE risk for SE MO and a SLIGHT risk for the remainder of the area... Believe that the most severe storms will be over SE MO and SO IL where the warm front is currently stationed...The big question is the progression of this warm front and if it makes it further north today, which is possible we could see this severe risk move northward...Will keep an eye on this...

The primary threat from any severe thunderstorms will be Tornadoes...Large Hail...Damaging Winds, but also very heavy rainfall... Flash Flood Watch is in effect from the I-70 corridor south... Much of SE MO and SO IL is under a FLASH FLOOD WARNING where the heaviest rainfall has fallen over the past few days... Flash flooding is a very real threat and should be taken seriously...Heavy rainfall of 3-6" more inches of rainfall is possible in the WATCH area...

The front which is stalled over the region will bring more waves of precipitation to the region and this will be heavy rainfall and even severe weather... Keep an eye to the sky!

Tuesday and Tuesday night look for more waves of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe with heavy rainfall. Thus the Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7pm Wednesday... Models do take the low pressure system further north on Tuesday which means we are dry for most of the day of Tuesday, but then we see rain/storms Tuesday night...

Wednesday rain and thunderstorms will move out of the region, and believe by Wednesday night we will start the dry out... with breezy conditions as a cold front moves through the region...

Thursday and Friday are dry with sunshine. Temperatures in the upper 60s on Thursday with lower 70s on Friday...

Saturday we should see sunshine at least through the early afternoon, but have another system moving into the region late Saturday night and into Sunday... Will have to keep an eye on this, but also keep in mind that this is days 6 and 7 of the forecast so expect some tweaking of this forecast between now and then...

The front will move northward today and areas to the south of STL where the rain has been heavy over the past few days--models indicate 3-5" of rainfall has already fallen over the region resulting in significant flooding to the area... A Flash FLOOD WARNING is in effect for most of SE MO region...

In addition to the flooding threat the real threat of SEVERE weather exists today... Mainly South of I-44 today... Main threat today will be that of large hail and damaging winds... This threat will move northward overnight and into Monday...

Some uncertainties in our Monday forecast where we could see another significant severe weather outbreak especially over SE MO where models depict the greatest instability. However, in the STL area if the atmosphere destabilizes enough we could see a repeat of Last Friday and Last Tuesday... Definitely will keep a close eye on this system on Monday and Monday Night... A cold front will move through on Monday, but it will not cool us, just be the focal point of thunderstorms... The front again will stall on Monday night and Tuesday which will keep the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the forecast through Wednesday...

Wednesday will bring a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms as a cold front will move through the region Wednesday night...Finally clearing the weather pattern and we should see some much needed and wanted dry time on Thursday-Saturday...

.Last night's storms hit close to home for me personally, now the clean up and assessment begins. A tornado swept through Lambert Airport last night which has closed the airport for the first time in 30 years... A strong tornado ripped through STL last night but it began way out west.

The timeline began in Cole/Calloway counties and the storm, which was supercellular moved along the I-70 corridor right into the STL area... This storm remained Tornadic the entire period... Look for more showers and thunderstorms today-Wednesday as unsettled weather continues across the region..Heavy rainfall is likely today-Wednesday with the potential for some strong to severe storms each day... People should monitor the weather for potential watches and warnings...

A front stalled to our south which will be the focal point for showers and thunderstorms...Low pressures will travel along this front throughout the next 5 days... Flooding is likely as creeks and streams are bankfull. The front will not move much so we will see continuous rounds of showers and thunderstorms... Some of these will be severe.

In addition, very heavy rainfall will exist through this period... Upwards to 8-10" of rain will be possible by storm end on Wednesday...

Showers and thunderstorms will continue through tonight...Strong thunderstorms and some severe will continue...Locally heavy rainfall... Lows tonight in the upper 50s... On Saturday the cold front will be to the south of the area, especially over the bootheel. Lows tonight will be in the lower 50s...Heavy rainfall will exist over the region with flooding threat increasing... A warm front will lift northward over night...

Friday will bring more showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system to our west will move into the region, and a warm front that moves north of the STL area will create the set up of this storm is the same as our earlier week storm system with the potential for an outbreak of severe weather, with large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes possible Friday afternoon and Friday night as a powerful cold front moves SE through the area... In addition, heavy rainfall will be likely. Flooding will be a concern as well, since the ground is saturated...

We will have periods of showers and thunderstorms Saturday-Wednesday... Some of these storms over this period will be strong to severe...However, the greatest threat will be the potential for flooding... Latest 5 day precipitation forecast from the HPC that runs today through next week shows up to 5" of rainfall for the period...

**MORE SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE THURSDAY NIGHT-FRIDAY NIGHT... AND AGAIN SUNDAY-MONDAY**

A very strong storm system brought widespread severe weather to the region on Tuesday and even a record high temperature of 88 degrees in STL... Today we are calm and cooler, with highs nearing 60... A NNW wind will keep things cooler, and we will be slow to clear our skies today... Tonight look for Partly Cloudy skies with lows in the lower 40s...

Thursday brings another chance of storms to the region by Thursday afternoon beginning to our west and moving eastward through the late afternoon and evening... Storms will continue overnight on Thursday... Highs in the lower 60s... Lows in the upper 40s... A slight risk of severe weather exists for the Western part of the state and that is the hint of what will be the future on Friday!

Friday will be a concern with the potential of another severe weather outbreak over the area... This will bring the threat of large hail, damaging winds, and even some tornadoes over the region as another strong western storm moves into the area... This will likely continue into Friday night...and Saturday...

Timing on these storms are still in question...So stay tuned.

Saturday will see a chance of lingering storms, we could see a little break in our stormy weather pattern, but it will be short-lived. As our Easter Sunday will bring more storms to the area...and this will continue into Monday with the potential for strong to severe storms possible. Tuesday we continue our stormy pattern with the chance of storms. Monday and Tuesday will also be breezy!

**MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER TODAY/TONIGHT**

**SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WX OUTBREAK LIKELY**
Tornadoes...VERY large Hail, Straight-line Winds... Heavy Rainfall...

First round of storms are moving through the area early this morning (715am) at the time of this writing have produced Baseball, Heg Egg, and Golfball sized hail has been associated with these storms as they moved through the region... The first round will diminish and we should see some sunshine before the more intense and more concerning round of storms moves through the area later today and into tonight...

A MODERATE risk of severe weather exists for most of the region, and this does include all of STL and points west, south and east... A moderate risk is a real concern for a SIGNIFICANT outbreak of SEVERE STORMS later today and tonight...The main threats from this afternoon's storms will be large, strong tornadoes, VERY large Hail (Greater than Golfball-Sized), and Damaging straight line winds in excess of 70mph. In addition, very heavy rainfall will accompany these storms. I also expect that the lightning will be very intense.

TORNADO RISK IS EXTREMELY HIGH TODAY! There is a potential for a TORNADO outbreak this afternoon/tonight...

So why the threat of severe weather? There are several factors in the mix for this severe weather event...A potent jet stream low pressure over the Rockies will move over the plains this afternoon... A warm front moving north over the area will increase the southerly winds today and allow warm air to invade the region... As the potent jet stream low merges with a powerful surface low attached to a cold front will move out of Kansas at the same time and encounter the warm, moist, air over MO and storms are expected to erupt quickly... Once the morning wave moves out and we see some sunshine across the region it will help to quickly destabilize the atmosphere, which is not a good thing...Since we have a low at the surface and a low aloft you will have intense rotation which will be favorable for the development of tornadoes as storms will become supercells over the state of MO/IL later this afternoon and tonight...

Some bowing could result as the storms will be quick moving and this could result in some significant wind damage as a result of straight-line winds...Winds could exceed 70+mph...

In addition, very large hail will be likely with this storm system as some areas had this morning we could see hail larger than GOLF BALL sized and this could create major damage...

THIS STORM SYSTEM IS ONE PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY AND KNOW SAFETY RULES AND HAVE AN EMERGENCY PLAN IN PLACE... THIS IS A DANGEROUS WEATHER SITUATION!

Storms should be out of the area by 8pm or so and we will have a relatively quiet overnight hours... Wednesday will be a dry day... We will have a chance of Thunderstorms Thursday-Monday and yes, some of those storms could be strong to severe... Will monitor this trend, but for today let's focus on this severe weather outbreak that is expected.

SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER THIS AFTERNOON/TONIGHT.
Latest models have trended to support a large hail threat from thunderstorms that should develop tonight across the region...Given this a SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE weather is now in place for much of the region... Isolated Tornado threat and Damaging Wind Threat also exists... A more significant DANGEROUS Severe Weather Outbreak is likely on Tuesday afternoon and Night.

SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK POSSIBLE TUESDAY AFTERNOON-NIGHT..
INCLUDING TORNADOES...VERY LARGE HAIL...STRAIGHT LINE WINDS...HEAVY RAIN...

A significant severe weather outbreak looks increasingly likely on Tuesday and Tuesday night as a powerful storm system out west moves into our region... This storm system looks intense and perhaps worse than our storm last weekend... More on this in a moment.

Today... A warm front is moving to our north will slowly move south today and as it does so will produce some scattered thunderstorms across the region... Storms will be likely, and a few storms may be severe with large hail, and heavy rainfall... Highs today will be in the upper 70s... Some sun this morning and into the afternoon, but again storms are expected to develop later in the day...

Tuesday will be the day to to watch very closely. Thunderstorms from Monday night may linger into early Tuesday, but then look for a lull in the moisture which will help destabilize the atmosphere significantly and create a potential significant severe weather outbreak over the entire region. Storm Prediction Center has placed All of the region into a MODERATE risk... These storms are likely to be violent and produce tornadoes...hail larger than golf ball size, and damaging straight-line winds... Heavy rain will also accompany these storms... People in the moderate risk which includes most of MO and Most of IL should take weather precautions now for a potentially dangerous weather situation...

Tuesday late afternoon and into Tuesday night will be the focal point for these storms... Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower to mid 80s... Look for a SSW wind...

We are dry Wednesday and much of Thursday before our next weather system moves into the region and brings yet again more showers and storms, which could be severe... Highs on Wednesday will be cooler highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s... Thursday will be dry early, but chance of storms move in by afternoon and overnight hours into Friday and Friday night... Highs on Thursday will be in the lower 60s... Friday highs even with thunderstorms should reach the lower 70s... Models continue with unsettled weather on Saturday with highs in the upper 60s and the lingering chance of showers/storms,

Easter Sunday looks dry with sunshine expected...highs in the upper 60s...

After a severe day of weather with more than a dozen funnel clouds being reported on Friday afternoon and evening as that line of severe storms moved through the region... Today we are on the backside of this activity and we are going to see some periods of showers at least through early afternoon... These rain showers will move to the SE through the day... Otherwise look for a cloudy day with somewhat breezy conditions...Highs today will only be in the lower 50s... With a west wind around 21 mph... Expect gust to 29...

By Tonight look for clearing skies and a lower 40s as High pressure settles to our south... A southerly flow then will set up for the day on Sunday as a warm front will lift to the north... Highs on Sunday in the lower 70s... it will be breezy with SSE wind around 13 mph, gusting to 20 mph... Sunday night we should see our clouds increase, but remaining dry... Lows in the upper 40s...

Monday will start out dry, but by the afternoon and evening hours we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms... Highs in the mid 70s... Lows near 60... Showers/Tstorms will increase in coverage by Monday night into Tuesday... Tuesday-Wednesday look for the chance of severe weather....Breezy conditions will exist for Tuesday... Will continue with the chance of Thunderstorms Wednesday,Thursday and Friday.... Temperatures will remain spring-like.

Update: 103pm...
Strong rotation aloft and shear has resulted in a tornado WATCH to be issued for the entire area until 9pm.

Severe Weather Likely Today!
Large Hail, Damaging Winds, Tornadoes

Heavy Rainfall up to 1-2" possible.

A huge low pressure system spinning over KS this morning and a cold front with a warm front attached is over MO at this hour and we are on the warm sector. A cold front to the west will be the focal point this afternoon, in the meantime the rain we have this morning will come to an end and we have a dry slot in the precipitation which will result in significant destabilization of the atmosphere because we will have breaks in the overcast and some sunshine which will create the set up for severe weather later this afternoon as the cold front with the deepening low pressure moves closer to the area....

So a break this morning in the rainfall, but we will see severe storm redevelop this afternoon resulting in the potential for severe weather... The threat of tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and excessive heavy rainfall of 1-2" possible....

Temperatures will climb today to the lower 70s with a SSE wind around 16 mph with gust to 23+ mph... Tonight will continue with the chances of rain/storms, but by this evening the severe threat should diminish. Lows tonight in the upper 40s... A WSW wind around 14 with a gust to 18...

Saturday will be a raw day with highs in the mid 50s... with a West wind around 17 gusting to 29 and morning/early afternoon rain/drizzle will make it feel unpleasant... Saturday night will see partly cloudy, around the 40 degree mark.

Sunday we are dry with Sunny skies and highs near 70... Monday will bring the next chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs in the lower 70s... Afternoon storms develop and linger through Thursday... Could see some severe weather on Tuesday-Wednesday... Breezy conditions will around the region Tues-Thu...

Again it is vital that we keep an eye on the sky today because if we have sunshine between rounds of storms that is NOT a good thing, it will create a very unstable atmosphere and we could see storms fire up and become severe quickly...

SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT-FRIDAY...

Enjoy today as the weather will be changing as a monster low pressure deepens right over the state beginning late tonight through Saturday...

Today we will see Partly Cloudy skies by afternoon with highs in the mid 70s and a SE wind... Tonight a low pressure will move into the region and deepen... Severe Storms will develop to our west and then move eastward overnight into Friday morning and continue through Friday afternoon and night...Highs on Friday will be in the mid 60s... Friday night things do turn colder as rain continues...

Keeping the rain in the forecast on Saturday as the low pressure remains near the region, so will keep the chance of rain in the forecast for the early part of the day... Highs will be in the lower 50s with a strong breeze, which means it will feel bitter.

Sunday will be breezy and sunny with highs in the mid 60s... Continue dry through early Monday... will be in the mid 60s...

Our next chance of rain/storms will move into the region late Monday night into Tuesday and Wednesday...

Keep an eye on the changing weather tonight and Friday as the threat of severe weather is present.

Another gorgeous spring day today! Look for sunny skies, a light south wind and highs in the lower 70s... Tonight expect partly cloudy skies with lows around the 50 degree mark, and a SE wind around 6.

Thursday will start out sunny and dry, but we will have to watch for some mean storms to develop over KS/OK/Western MO during the day and then move eastward towards nightfall, some of those storms will be strong to severe... Highs on Thursday will be in the 70s... Lows. in the 50s with strong to severe storms late Thursday night into Friday...

This huge storm system is different than our storm system last week, in regards to speed, it is much slower to develop into our region and will linger for several days... Keeping storms into Friday with a SLIGHT risk of severe weather on Friday... Highs in the upper 60s... Will keep the rain/drizzle in the forecast as Saturday looks to be a raw day, with light precipitation, breezy and cloudy skies... Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s... Still holding off mentioning the chance of snowflakes Friday night into Saturday, but it is possible to some extent...

Sunday we are dry, and highs in the lower 60s... Sunny skies will be the weather feature..

Monday and Tuesday, we have the chance of a thunderstorms... Highs in the upper 60s... Lows in the mid 50s...

High pressure is in control of our weather today, so expect sunshine and a light NNW breeze around 9 mph we should see ample sunshine with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s... Tonight under mostly clear skies look for lows in the mid 40s....

Wednesday is dry and sunny with a south wind that means we will see a warm up in temperatures on Wednesday with highs in the mid 70s... Wednesday night we are partly cloudy with lows near 50...

Thursday our next weather system moves into the region... We start the day dry and into Thursday night we have the next chance of strong to severe weather... Highs in the mid 70s... Lows in the 50s... Again, Thu night into Friday we have the chance of that aforementioned severe weather, in addition to breezy conditions with highs in the lower 60s... I have carried the rain chance at least over the SE MO portion of the state into Saturday morning... It will be a cool day on Saturday with a high in the lower 50s...With breezy conditions, it will feel somewhat unpleasant....

We are sunny and dry on Sunday, but cool, high in the upper 50s... A slow warm up on Monday and Tuesday with sunny skies and highs in the 60s...
